DoTheDream Youth Development Initiative at the 15th UNODC Congress

DoTheDream Youth Development Initiative was privileged to exhibit at the 15th UNODC Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi, held from September 26 to October 1.

The Congress brought together governments, institutions, experts, and youth-focused organisations to shape a shared agenda for safer, fairer, and more resilient societies. It concluded with the Abu Dhabi Declaration, setting international priorities for crime prevention, criminal justice, and the rule of law for the next five years.

Our exhibition, led by Arti Ahluwalia, Co-Chair of the Girls in Energy Working Group, spotlighted #GirlsInEnergy which called for the mentorship, education, funding, industry exposure, inclusive workplaces, and #HeForShe allyship girls need to freely choose #STEM, energy, and heavy-engineering careers.

The #GirlsinEnergy Project is an ecosystem, not just a programme. It prepares, empowers, funds, and employs the next generation of women in the energy economy through:

Girls in Energy Village — career development, conferences, camps, community projects, competitions, and industry exposure

Girls in Energy Funds — a ₦200 million intervention fund to help young women turn energy ideas into viable ventures

DoTheDream Energy Industrial Village — driving jobs, local value chains, community growth, and inclusion through critical minerals, green hydrogen, smart energy, and industrial decarbonisation

Together, these pillars create a clear pathway: from awareness to skills, from skills to enterprise, and from enterprise to sustainable employment.

Energy powers businesses, schools, hospitals, farms, factories, digital innovation, and entire communities. Yet girls and young women remain underrepresented in technical, leadership, entrepreneurial, and investment roles across the sector.

Through Girls in Energy, we are changing that narrative—building a future where girls are engineers, technicians, innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, investors, and industry leaders.

With global endorsement from Dr.hc.Violeta Bulc Bulc, the impact of #GirlsInEnergy continues to grow.

Through #HeForShe, we invite men and boys to stand as active allies: opening doors, challenging stereotypes, mentoring talent, and expanding equal access to the energy economy.
